April 10th is International Pin Day.

The pin was invented when Hunt was twisting a piece of wire and trying to come up with something that would help him pay off a fifteen dollar debt. He later sold his patent rights to the pin for four hundred dollars to a man to whom he owed money. It was the first pin with a clasp and spring, and Hunt claimed that it was designed to keep fingers from getting hurt, hence the name.
