Every year on April 11, the world celebrates Submarine Day . The date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the date of the first immersion of an American boat under water in 1900.
The first submarine was built by the Dutchman Cornelius Drebbel in 1620, based on the designs of William Bourne. The boat was launched into the Thames at the request of King James I. The structure was made of wood and covered with leather.
The very idea of diving to the depths with the help of a special ship has existed since ancient times: it is assumed that Alexander the Great used a similar underwater device.
Together with the students we will try to investigate the structure of the submarine and learn the secrets of its diving.
