Every year on June 17, World Tessellation Day is celebrated. The day is dedicated to the art of tessellation, i.e. patterns of geometric shapes that fit perfectly with each other without any gaps or overlaps.

Tessellation (parquetry) is a mosaic made up of several identical shapes that fit together without gaps and do not overlap.

World Tessellation Day aims to raise awareness of the mathematical principles of tessellation and encourage more people to explore this fascinating field. On this day, students will create their own tessellations and judge their friends’ work.
