Parentsʼ Council

Lviv British School Primary School Parents' Council

In primary school, it is especially important for children to feel stability, support and unity among the adults around them. That is why at Lviv British School we pay great attention to the partnership between the school and the family and have created the Primary School Parents’ Council as a permanent, structured form of interaction.

The Parents’ Council is not a formality or a one-off initiative. It is a vibrant community of responsible parents who work together with the school to ensure that the educational environment is safe, comfortable and conducive to the comprehensive development of each child.

Why is this important?

International education experience shows that when schools and parents act as partners, children learn with more confidence and peace of mind. Coordinated decisions, clear rules, and open dialogue create a sense of stability and trust in the school for students.

The Parent Council helps to:

hear the voice of each class and systematise parents’ requests;

discuss issues affecting children’s school life in a timely manner;

avoid misunderstandings through transparent communication;

jointly support initiatives that improve the learning environment.

How does the Council work?

The Council is formed of 1-2 representatives from each class in the lower school. Participants represent the opinions of their class’s parents, collect suggestions and questions, and bring them to regular meetings with the school administration.

Council meetings are held every two weeks. This format allows for timely responses to requests without building up tension, while keeping the Council’s work effective and structured.

Responsibility and trust

The work of the Parents’ Council is based on mutual respect, ethical communication and trust. The Council does not interfere in the educational process or replace the school’s management decisions, but performs an advisory and communication function.

Each member of the Council takes responsibility for acting in the interests of the entire community, not just individuals, and for upholding the values of Lviv British School.

Who is this Council for?

  • Parents who want to be heard and to hear the school.
  • Parents who are ready for constructive dialogue.
  • For parents who share the values of partnership and development.
  • For parents who want to make their children's school life even better.

We believe that a strong school starts with a strong community. That is why the Primary School Parents’ Council is an important part of the Lviv British School ecosystem.
