Submarine Day is celebrated annually on 11 April. The first submarine was built by Dutchman Cornelius Drebbel in 1620. The boat’s construction consisted of wood covered with leather.
The idea of diving to the depths with a special ship has been known since ancient times: it is believed that Alexander the Great used a similar underwater device.
Today, together with the pupils, we explored the structure of a submarine and learnt the secrets of its diving.
