Ukrainian myths are distinguished by their close connection to nature and the lives of farmers and shepherds. In many cultures, there is a clear distinction between good and evil spirits, but in Ukrainian mythology there was no such division.
Our ancestors believed that the good and evil brought by spirits did not depend on their nature, but on their role in a particular situation. Even after the adoption of Christianity, Ukrainians adhered to the principle: “Love God, but don’t hate the devil”. Myths helped people explain the origin of the universe, the creation of humans and animals. All the peoples of the world have myths about the origin of the Sun, Moon, Earth, sky, mountains, rivers, seas, and lakes.
The students will travel through the myths, prepare themed performances, take part in competitions and quizzes, and cook food for the gods at a cooking class. Ukrainian mythology will be presented by 3rd grade students.
