The What If… podcast is a fascinating discussion of alternative realities, hypothetical situations and interesting scenarios that could change the course of history or our lives. In each episode, the participants consider the question ‘What if…?’ and look for different possible answers to this question using their imagination and logic. This podcast provides an opportunity for children to reflect on important life situations, as well as develop critical thinking and creativity by discussing the likely consequences of each choice.
The main themes of the episodes are:
1 ‘What if we could travel through time? ’ – discussing the possibility of time travel and how it could affect history, science, and our everyday lives.
2 ‘What if all people could fly? ’ – what would change in transport, ecology, and society if everyone could fly without the help of technology?
3 ‘What if there was no war on Earth? ’ – reflections on what humanity would look like if all conflicts were resolved peacefully.
4 ‘What if we had the opportunity to live on other planets? ’ – ideas about space colonisation, life on Mars or other planets.
5 ‘What if everyone could read minds? ’ – possible consequences of such a gift: how it would change relationships between people and society as a whole.
The podcast promotes creative thinking, logic and imagination by helping students formulate and analyse hypothetical situations. By participating in the podcast, students:

–Use their imagination and creativity: discussing ‘what if…’ allows children to think outside the box, look for new ideas and come up with possible scenarios.
–Develops argumentation skills: participants have to explain their point of view and provide logical arguments to support their assumptions.
–Learn to see the consequences of their decisions: participants learn to assess what changes may occur in the world as a result of a particular choice or event.
–Imaginative thinking skills: students learn to create new ideas and examine them from different perspectives.
–Development of logic and analysis: discussing complex situations teaches children to evaluate different possible outcomes of actions that can change the world.
–Enriching vocabulary: discussions introduce new terms and concepts, which improves their language skills.
–Interest in science and technology: some topics stimulate children’s interest in science, technology, history and philosophy.
