Today at Lviv British School, we celebrated Wikipedia Day with short and engaging informational sessions for all classes.
During these mini-lectures, students learned what Wikipedia is, how it works, and why it has become one of the most important sources of information in the modern world. We also talked about how people searched for information in the past — using books, encyclopedias, and libraries — and how knowledge sources have evolved over time.
The children discovered that Wikipedia is celebrating 25 years since its creation, discussed how such platforms appeared, and reflected on how access to information has changed. Interactive tasks encouraged students to think critically, ask questions, and better understand how information is created and shared today. It was an inspiring and thoughtful learning experience.
