International Pizza Day is celebrated annually on 9 February. The classic Margherita was invented by the Italian Raffaele Esposito about 200 years ago.
Prototypes of pizza existed in the ancient world, for example, in Ancient Greece and later in Rome, where flat bread was prepared with olives, herbs and oil.
People in every country add something different to this dish, but Italian pizza has more than a thousand recipes for this favourite dish around the world. Together with the students, we learnt a lot about this dish and made pizza during the cooking class.
